Alt-Play Jason Rohrer Anthology: Pixelated PC Mess? Or something else?

Posted on March 13, 2011

Jason Rohrer: computer, writer, musician, and game designer. His games are well received.

The above statement is a statement of truth.

OK, So far this review sounds like a 5-year-old is writing it. Trust me it gets better.

Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology is a DSiware game, which features 3 of Rohrer’s games (Passage, Gravitation and Between) Granted, you can get these games for free for certain hardware, and some people (I’m not one of these people) judge games by graphics, but these are interesting,

Passage is basically walking through a maze, but with a slight, slight twist: You die after 5 minutes. Not in the way that your level of skill causes you to die, your character is programmed to die after 5 minutes.

Gravitation is the Santa Claus conquers The Martians of this package (look that reference up, there is a movie called Santa Claus Conquers The Martians, but it’s considered TERRIBLE. Me sees a review in the future)It basically sees you hitting a ball and doing moon jumps up to a platform.

The most interesting is Between, which is multiplayer, it’s basically a game that no one will get how to play plus probably never play because people either can’t or don’t know that you can link consoles and handhelds to WiFi.

I have seen websites give this game 2/10 and 1/10, which I think is a bit unfair. It is interesting, it’s just that you can get it for free anyway and you’re not going to play as much as you play Call Of Duty or Mario Kart, so for that reason it get’s a……………… 3.5/8

Thanks for reading,
